These texts take the shape of a travelling diary, a journey I took in the waters of my imaginations. A stream of consciousness describing incredible places to a reader, a reader that is not identified:
maybe me, maybe you who are reading right now, maybe someone who’ll never read these notes.
The Invisible Cities from Italo Calvino is the book that inspired the narration. The emperor Kublai Kahn travels with Marco Polo into 55 imaginaries cities but the act of just imagining them, make
them real. This is the power of utopia, imagining possibilities, it makes them real or at least open to be a possibility in the present.
I consider the idea of the city in a deep crisis: abandoned and empty buildings without any use evoke my inner ghosts. I am a person, meat and bones who do not have a civic role in the city. I want to
take it, I do not want to be a ghost!
In this text I created seven imaginary cities, where the comunal laws that regulate society, physics and nature are completely turned upside down.
As Jung recorded his fantasies in The red book, liber novus I do the same, jumping between a psychoanalyst and a writer viewpoint. This is a journey between myself as a human made of meat and
soul and a global citizen (cosmopolitan) who with an imaginary perspective, wants to invent or just to think possible futures, ways to live together, in a fantastic or dystopic wathever way.
Every description (seven in total) takes inspirations from a few dreams I still remember but also from an analysis that emerges its roots in the observation of the hypermodern community.
The present society spreads over the informational revolution, a revolution that affects inevitably our way of being in the community. Composite entities, fragmented personalities, producers of
different realities that define themselves as a mass of individual atoms moving inside a fluid brownian motion without a center.
It is hard to discern between ourselves and our apparatus.
Cyborg of ourselves we are part of an immense network that is producing a collective intelligence.
The circulation of learning is based on our contents, a fractal system made of nodal points that connect humans all around the cyberspace.
We are an ecosystem of ants, synapsis that create a cumulative and stratificated knowledge as stratificate is the morphology of the ground under our feet.
We are producers and consumers of the redundancy of the image. Images of which we are not always aware; as our subconscious that shows itself through symbols, objects, visions.
The image can be free if it is left to be floating through the immense territory of our fantasy.
Closed in our houses, the information is travelling in the sky of the humanity.
We can build new utopias, new futures, new ways of being together.
Let is hoist the veil of imagination, this is an ode to freedom!
Sail the ship and travel with me into the seven imaginary places.
